The Junior Sommelier assists the Head Sommelier in delivering an exceptional wine service experience to guests. This role involves supporting wine selection, storage, and service in line with the restaurant’s standards. It also includes helping to educate both staff and guests about wines, maintaining the wine cellar, and ensuring efficient service during service hours.
Assist in the day-to-day operations of the wine service, including preparing for service and restocking.
Recommend wines to guests based on their preferences and menu choices.
Support the Head Sommelier with inventory management, wine list updates, and cellar organization.
Ensure proper wine storage and presentation (e.g., correct temperature, glassware).
Open and serve wines professionally and in accordance with restaurant standards.
Educate guests and team members on wine regions, vintages, grape varieties, and food pairings.
Maintain cleanliness and order of the wine cellar and service areas.
Stay current on wine trends, vintages, and industry knowledge.
Provide high levels of customer service and guest interaction.
Uphold health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Prior experience in hospitality or restaurant service (fine dining preferred).
Foundational knowledge of wines, wine service, and food pairing.
Passion for wine and eagerness to learn and grow in the field.
Certification from a wine education body (WSET Level 1 or 2, CMS Introductory Sommelier, or equivalent) preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure during service.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
