Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and optimize scalable, reliable, and high - performance ETL/ELT data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakehouses, supporting both batch and real - time data processing.

• Lead data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) to ensure data consistency, integrity, and accessibility, aligning with business and regulatory standards in Hong Kong.

• Develop and maintain data APIs, data services, and data integration solutions to connect internal and external data sources (RESTful APIs, databases, cloud storage, etc.).

• Optimize database performance, troubleshoot data issues, and ensure data security/compliance with Hong Kong’s data protection laws (e.g., PDPO) and industry regulations.

• Mentor junior data developers, drive best practices for data development, documentation, and DevOps (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes) in the team.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and translate data requirements into technical solutions, and provide data - related support for business initiatives.

• Evaluate and adopt new data technologies/tools to improve the efficiency and capability of the data platform.

Requirements

1. Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in data development, data engineering, or a related role, with at least 2 years in a senior/lead capacity.

• Proven experience in building and managing cloud - based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP); Hong Kong market or APAC regional project experience is preferred.

  
  

  2. Technical Skills

• Proficient in SQL (advanced query writing, stored procedures, optimization) and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala).

• Solid experience with ETL/ELT tools (Apache Airflow, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, etc.) and data warehousing/lakehouse technologies (Snowflake, BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.).

• Familiarity with both relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).

• Experience with data streaming (Apache Kafka, Flink) and containerization/orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines for data projects.

• Fluent in Mandarin (spoken and written) for daily communication with regional teams and local stakeholders.

• Fluent in English (spoken and written) for global team collaboration, documentation, and client interactions.

• Strong analytical, problem - solving, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast - paced environment.

• Excellent cross - functional communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non - technical stakeholders.
