- Job Overview
- We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines, infrastructure, and analytics solutions that facilitate data-informed decision-making across the organization.
- You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and engineering teams to convert raw data into actionable insights, ensuring data quality, reliability, and performance.
- This role demands deep expertise in data engineering best practices, cloud technologies, and big data tools, with an emphasis on delivering robust, efficient, and secure data systems.
- Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Design & Development
- Architect, build, and maintain end-to-end scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to ingest, process, transform, and load data from various sources (APIs, databases, flat files, streaming platforms, etc.).
- Optimize pipeline performance, latency, and resource utilization to manage large volumes of structured/unstructured data (terabytes/petabytes).
- Implement data validation, cleansing, and enrichment logic to ensure high data quality and integrity.
- Data Infrastructure & Architecture
- Design and maintain data storage solutions (data lakes, data warehouses, data marts) using cloud-native technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) or on-premises systems.
- Evaluate and integrate new data tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance the data engineering ecosystem (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery).
- Ensure data infrastructure complies with security, compliance, and governance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
- Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with data scientists and analysts to understand business requirements and design data models/schemas that support analytics, machine learning, and reporting use cases.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows, enabling automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Monitoring & Optimization
- Develop and implement monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to proactively identify and resolve pipeline failures, bottlenecks, and performance issues.
- Continuously optimize data systems for cost efficiency, scalability, and reliability, conducting regular audits and performance tuning.
- Data Governance & Compliance
- Implement data access controls, encryption, and data lifecycle management policies to safeguard sensitive information.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to define and enforce data standards, metadata management, and data lineage documentation.

Requirements
- Requirements & Qualifications
- Technical Skills
- Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python (primary) and SQL; experience with additional languages such as Java and Scala is a plus.
- Big Data & Streaming: Expertise in big data frameworks (Apache Spark, Hadoop, Flink) and streaming platforms (Apache Kafka, Kinesis).
- Data Pipeline Tools: Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and data integration technologies.
- Cloud & Storage: Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS S3/Redshift/Glue, Azure Blob/Synapse, GCP GCS/BigQuery) and data storage solutions (data lakes, warehouses, NoSQL databases like MongoDB/Cassandra).
- DevOps & Automation: Experience with CI/CD tools, infrastructure as code, and containerization.
- Data Governance: Familiarity with data quality tools (Great Expectations), metadata management, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA).
- Professional Experience
- 7+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, focusing on building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing data solutions for enterprise-level applications, preferably in energy, technology, or related industries.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams (data science, product, engineering) to deliver data-driven projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data systems.
- Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Google Professional Data Engineer) are highly desirable.
- Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, focusing on fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for learning new technologies and staying updated with industry trends.
